University Counseling
On the basis of their criteria and choices, we help students with their applications to universities from all over the world.
At Montgomery International School university counseling is introduced to students in MYP 5 (grade 10). Their choice of studies at university must be compatible with the choice of courses chosen during the last cycle of study for the Diploma.
A yearly programme is in place, including presentations at school by representatives from worldwide universities. Additionally, students are encouraged to visit international higher education fairs, presentations on their choice of subject, and campus visits.
There is further support in DP1 and DP2 as students start looking into universities. Assistance and counseling are offered in individual meetings with a counselor and small group sessions during the university application process.
[...] I am now attending Knox College, where I am pursuing a double major in International Relations and Computer Science. [...] The workload feels manageable, and I’m noticing how well-prepared I feel compared to some of my classmates who didn’t have the same academic foundation.
I’m deeply grateful for your support and guidance throughout my time at MIS, especially during the college application process. Your encouragement and understanding meant a great deal to me, and I truly appreciate all the ways you helped me prepare for this next chapter. The lessons I learned at MIS, both academic and personal, continue to serve me well here, and I often reflect on how much you and the MIS community shaped me.
Tiffany Karki - Class of 2023
The core elements definitely prepared me for the amount of research and academic writing I need to provide for my university, which seems extremely useful when I compare my experience in the first month of Uni to some of my colleagues that haven't had the same opportunity to research and write in an academic setting. Even though the process during the DP course was extremely challenging, I developed some self-determination when it comes to completing courses on my own.
